The History of First National Bank & Trust

bullet April 2, 1917 - Central Bank's charter organized by: D.M. Smith, W. B. Pine, T. J. Baker & Waite Phillips
bullet April 1921 - First National Bank & Trust was one of five banks that remained in Okmulgee during multiple bank closings.
bullet 1929 - Central National Bank absorbed First National Bank & Trust 
bullet January 1, 1968 - Central National returned to the name First National Bank and Trust Company. 
bullet 1968 - First National Bank & Trust Company received Trust Powers.
bullet 1983 - First National Bank & Trust moved into its' newly built, modern facility located at 610 East 8th Street in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
bullet Sept. 11, 2006 - First National Bank, Henryetta was merged with First National Bank & Trust.


First National Bank & Trust was called upon to repeat its feat of surviving tough times when the oil industry collapsed in 1986. During this period when many banks had to seek reorganization, Okmulgee's First remained sound as it again relied on its strong financial base first established by its founding fathers.
